JAPAN IMPORT

Here’s an unusual guitar from Fujigen-Gakki in Japan & badged as a “History” which is a brand name used by Japanese distributor “Shimamura”

Built in 2003 it’s a similar design, size and weight as a Gibson ES-336. The body is two or 3 pieces of Mahogany which have been carved out and a Maple top has been added resulting in a nice lightweight, small bodied, semi acoustic guitar. The neck is also Mahogany with a Rosewood fretboard. Another interesting feature is a control panel cover on the back which makes pickup, pots & switch replacement a much easier job. All in all a well thought out guitar that looks really nice and plays very well too.

This guitar features Fujigen's own Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.) Slightly curved frets are mounted as each string and fret intersect at right angles to minimize the contact surface. You can obtain accurate pitch, cleaner longer sustain and true harmonics.

The condition of the guitar I would describe as excellent for the year. Yes, there are a few scratches around the body but these are light & minimal. There are a couple of chips in the back edges. The frets show little signs of wear with no indents. The guitar is completely original.

The guitar plays really well. Straight neck which is a little thicker than some Japanese necks but definitely not "baseball bat" style! Low action and good pickups which are Fujigen's own model called Louis BH-1n, BH-1b with readings of 6.1k for the neck & 6.2k for the bridge. At 3.3kg (around 7lb 4oz) it’s a good weight. These guitars were only ever made in low numbers making them quite scarce, particularly outside of Japan.

As stated many times, due to courier damage, all my guitars are shipped in hard cases (usually new) this one being a plain black one. If you are collecting, I'm happy to knock off the price of the case (About £50) & I may even have an old gig bag you can have to take it away in

So to sum up, an excellent guitar from Fujigen Japan. This model is not so easy (or as cheap) to find here in the UK unless you import it. Why not play something that's just a little bit different?
